Ocean City, Md. Celebrates the 4th of July

It’s not too early to begin to plan for 4th of July. Check this out from the Town of Ocean City!

Northside Park and North Division Street locations both feature free concerts and fireworks displays

Ocean City, MD — The Fourth of July will be filled with family fun in Ocean City with two great places to celebrate the holiday, both presenting free concerts and fireworks.

Festivities begin at 8 p.m. with a free concert at Northside Park located at 127th Street and the bay. Rick K and the Allnighters will provide the entertainment. The spectacular fireworks display will be shot from the west side of the park at 9:30 p.m. You’ll hear the oohs and aahs throughout the park as the colorful displays light up the evening sky. Get there early to claim the best location to view the fireworks.

Meanwhile, on the south end of town, you can head to Ocean City’s famous Boardwalk with its bright lights, wonderful food, family fun and more fantastic fireworks. Bring your beach chair or blanket and claim a spot on the beach at North Division Street for a free concert at 8 p.m. with Dr. K’s Motown Review. Fireworks will also fill the sky over the ocean beginning at 9:30 p.m.

Parking is extremely limited at both locations. It is recommended that you take the bus. Bus service is $2 a day and runs 24 hours a day. Coming from west of town, the West Ocean City Park & Ride on Route 50 just west of the Route 50 Bridge offers free parking and $1 shuttle service to downtown.

Ocean City Announces Free Radio Disney Concert Series

“Sizzlin Summer of Stars” series kicks off with Anna Margaret and Jasmine Sagginario performance June 19 at 3 p.m.

OCEAN CITY, Md. (June 15, 2010) –The 2010 season is about to get hotter in Ocean City, Md.! The family-friendly beach town will host the “Sizzlin Summer of Stars” concert series, hosted by Philadelphia’s AM 640 Radio Disney, featuring popular Disney recording artists.

The free series kicks off June 19 at 3 p.m. with performances by singer/songwriter Anna Margaret and Radio Disney’s “Next Big Thing” winner, Jasmine Sagginario, on the North Division Street beach, just steps away from Ocean City’s world-famous boardwalk.

“Sizzlin Summer of Stars” Schedule:

All events take place at North Division Street beach (times for events are 3-7 p.m.).
Saturday, June 19 – Concert – Anna Margaret and Jasmine Sagginario.
Sunday, June 27 – Radio Disney Road Crew Event – Games, music and prizes.
Sunday, July 11 – Radio Disney Road Crew Event – Games, music and prizes.

Sunday, Aug. 22 – Concert – “Sizzlin Summer of Stars” grand finale featuring the popular band All Star Weekend.

“Ocean City is first and foremost a family resort and we are thrilled to offer yet another free concert series to our visitors this summer,” said Mayor Rick Meehan. “We work extremely hard to provide free, family-friendly entertainment for our guests, and we are excited to host some of Radio Disney’s biggest stars.”

Ocean City Air Show - Raptor

You don’t want to miss the Ocean City, Maryland Air Show to be held on June 5th & 6th, 2010. I can’t say enough about how much I have enjoyed the dazzling air displays held here at the Beach. I sit on the boardwalk around 17th Street (the central location for all activity), and watch with amazement as military jet demonstrations like “The Thunderbirds” perform. As well as parachuting teams, formation flying teams, and much more.

Oh, and don’t forget, Saturday night (June 5th), the U.S. Navy Seals Leap Frogs, do a night jump onto the beach, right in the middle of a super fun beach party. Check it out!!!

It’s All Happening in Ocean City – Cruisin’ At The Beach

Cruisin' Ocean City, Md.

Come on down the beach May 20- 23, 2010 and check out “Cruisin’ Ocean City”. This popular car show features over 3,000 hot rods, customs, classics, street machines, muscle cars and more. There is live entertainment, celebrity guests, special attractions, boardwalk parades, manufacturers vendor midway and more.

It’s held at the Convention Center on 40th Street & the Inlet parking lot. This year some special guests are scheduled to appear. Henry Winkler, the “Fonz”, Cruisin Gold Deejay Mike Wilson, Celebrity Stars Deejay Tim Beasley and more.

The Boardwalk parades are scheduled at 8am on Thursday, Friday and Saturday mornings. So many things to see and do, so make sure you cruise on down to Ocean City, Maryland for the 20th Annual Cruisin Ocean City.

Ward World Championship Wildfowl Competition & Art Festival

The 40th annual Ward World Championship Wildfowl Competition & Art Festival will be held at the Convention Center on 40th Street in Ocean City, Maryland April 23 -25, 2010.

The event features carvers in competition for the world’s most prestigious awards in wildfowl art. Visitors from all over the world enjoy the judging, auctions, seminars and demonstrations. Children’s activities are included along with over 100 exhibitor booths of artisans and art supplies for this fine art craft. Fri., 10 a.m.- 5 p.m.; Sat., 9 a.m.- 5 p.m.; Sun., 10 a.m.- 4 p.m. There is a small admission fee.

It’s a wonderful event and great fun for all ages.

The 26th Annual Home, Condo & Garden Show will be held at the Convention Center starting this Friday March 19th and continuing through Sunday March 21st, 2010.

It’s a wonderful event and there is also an arts and crafts show. The weather will be gorgeous so come on down to the beach and enjoy.

St. Patrick’s Day At The Beach Or Anytime For That Matter

Whether you’re Irish or not… they’ll be sooo many fun things to do at the beach in Ocean City this weekend!

Here’s what you should do…no don’t dress up like a dog!!!!

Everyone is "a wearing of the green"!

*Head to 45th street around 11 am, parking will be tight, get there early
*Enjoy the music, parade and various sights at the festival (and there will be some sights to see)
*Grab a delicious cheese steak from Belly Busters (across the street from the festival – no cholesterol in that sub – St. Patrick has removed it for the day)
*Following the festival, head on down to Pepper’s Tavern on 16th street and the boardwalk. Pepper’s is in parade, so the joint will be jumping
*Hit up the famous Shenanigans on 4th street and the boardwalk, this weekend just so happens to be their opening weekend. Can you say green beer, green beer, green beer!
*Dinner at Pickles Pub on 8th street, corned beef and cabbage, so very appropriate for the day.

Welcome Back Gary and Marlin Moon Grille!

Gary Beach and the Marlin Moon Grille are back inside the popular Micky Fins Restaurant. For those of you that did not know it (and that can’t be many) the Marlin Moon Grille was located in West Ocean City and was a tremendous restaurant with a wonderful owner and staff. They closed their doors this past winter. They had been a household name to locals and visitors alike since 2001.

I am thrilled that Gary will be back inside of Micky Fins. Marlin Moon classics such as Gary’s famous cream of crab soup, phyllo dough-wrapped shrimp and fish tacos will be on the menu. My personal favorite are the broiled crab cakes. I think they are the best on the Eastern Shore!

I am so glad that the recognizable servers and bartenders, that were an integral part to Marlin Moon, will be back too. We’ve missed them all and can’t wait for their return.

Gary always was very generous with the Ocean City community. Coming up soon is one of his favorite events on March 14th, 2010, the “Irish Christmas Party”, featuring musician James Gallagher playing from a boat in the marina.

Remember, the Marlin Moon Grille at Micky Fins is located in West Ocean City just west of the Route 50 bridge at the Ocean City Fishing Center overlooking the fabulous marina and skyline of Ocean City.

Gosh I don’t know what to order first! Bon appetite!
