Monica's Musings
A Tribute To Our Firefighter’s

It gives me hope for the human spirit. From great sadness and tragedy comes great outpourings of generosity and kindness.
Horribly a home in the neighborhood where I live was burnt almost to the ground on Saturday. We stood by and watched as our local firefighters valiantly fought the blaze with such vigor. The shocked and scared faces of the neighbors was painful to watch. I could tell everyone’s thoughts around me were the same. That is so sad, and thank God that wasn’t my home. Hugs were shared, plans were made, but the family is ultimately devastated by their loss.
In the midst of the chaos a muffled sound was heard, it was the barely audible sounds of a dog barking. The homeowner had thought their puppy had run from the house and had yet to be found. But not true, the little dog was still trapped in the house. A fireman bravely went back inside, and within minutes brought the dog outside to its owner. We were all elated. I felt like crying. Now everyone was officially safe and sound.
I count my blessings to have such wonderful friends and neighbors. I applaud as loudly as I possibly can the hard work and efforts of our Ocean City, Berlin and Ocean Pines firefighters. They are an incredible hard working and efficient group of dedicated individuals that I am proud and privileged to have in our area to protect the citizens of Worcester County.
